Fentanyl and tasers seized during traffic stop in Fort Saskatchewan

Fort Saskatchewan, Alta – On June 24, 2020, While conducting pro-active patrols throughout the community, members of the Fort Saskatchewan Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit conducted a vehicle stop.

RCMP members identified the vehicle occupants and determined that the driver had a suspended licence and outstanding warrants for his arrest in relation to unrelated offences. As a result of the investigation, the vehicle occupants were taken into custody.

A search incidental to arrest was completed and the following items were seized:

Over 50 grams of Methamphetamine, quantities of Fentanyl, Drug Packaging, Digital Scales, Two Tasers, Identity Documents and $730.00 dollars in Canadian Currency, suspected of being proceeds of crime.

As a result of the investigation, the female passenger from Stony Plain is facing drug-related charges however was released from custody on conditions and will be appearing in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on September 3, 2020.

Jonathan Daigle (37) of Edmonton, was charged with driving while suspended. Daigle is also facing a number of Criminal Code offences including:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm/ Prohibited Weapon or Restricted Weapon

Daigle was released from custody following a judicial hearing and is set to appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on September 3, 2020.
